Gardening Calendar Zone 6a

Embedded on the page below is a garden calendar for Indianapolis, IN (USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 6a; see the 2012 map of Indiana hardiness zones; Indianapolis was previously located in hardiness zone 5b on the 1990 hardiness zone map; our location using the USDA interactive map is now listed as average -8.3 Fahrenheit).  The recommended dates for gardening activities are derived from various Purdue University Cooperative Extension documents, including HO-32-W (Vegetables), HO-90-W (Winter Garden Calendar), etc.  Planting and other gardening instructions are included in the event notes for each activity.  General gardening suggestions are provided for each month on the first day of the month.
