OK, I know it is way too early in the season, but I need to know how these pots fill out. I doubt seriously that I can plant them all at the same time and expect them to mature at the same time. So, this experiment is designed to approximate the number of days required to reach optimal maturity for each herb. I am planting the following:
These are 4" seed disks from Johnny's, planted in 6" plastic pots from Harris Seeds. The cost per pot (including seed disk and soil) is about $2.50. I'll keep posting as they sprout and fill out and let you know what sort of planting schedule I arrive at to make sure I have 6 pots available in prime condition simultaneously. Currently the plan is to start planting in mid-March for late April maturity, but I hope to refine the planting schedule for each pot with this experiment. (And besides, who doesn't like to play in the dirt in late January?
